Specialty endodontics
In contrast to German universities, a range of courses divided into specialist disciplines has prevailed in the USA. This is certainly one reason why it was possible to devote so much time to the subject of endodontics at Boston University.
Dr. Pontius interrupted his practice for 3 years to complete his training with Dr. Schilder at the Endodontic Department of Boston University in the USA. This university is considered one of the leading schools in the world in the field of endodontics. Dr. Pontius was thus the first German to graduate from the US with a residency in the field of endodontics. Thus, this method came to Germany in a direct way.
But that is not all. What the star in the Michelin Guide is to a master chef, the Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics is to an endodontic specialist. In 2003, Dr. Oliver Pontius became the second European to receive this highest qualification that can be achieved in the field of endodontics.

Oliver Pontius uses his extensive experience in endodontics to develop this field of dentistry, which is still young in Germany. Special mention should be made of the "Pontius Study-Group", which meets several times a year, in addition to numerous lectures.

STERN Physician List 2022
We are pleased to inform you that Dr. Pontius is included in the current list of doctors as an excellent doctor, published on March 8, 2022 in a special issue of the magazine STERN under the title "Gute Ärzte für mich" (Good doctors for me) and published in stores. In July 2013 Dr. Pontius was elected as a member of the Leading Dental Centers of the World, an institution that is committed to clinical excellence.
Apart from working in my Practice in Bad Homburg in Germany, I also lecture worldwide and have published several scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals as well as chapters in dental textbooks.
